 Turkey which has a great potential in “winter tourism” with its climate, geography and thrusts in tourism sector, was ranked the 9th among the most tourist attracting countries list and the 8th in the list of countries with greatest income in tourism sector according to World Tourism Organization data.
Of the 19 winter sports and tourism resorts in Turkey, Uludağ (Bursa), Palandöken (Erzurum), Erciyes (Kayseri) and Köroğlu-Kartalkaya (Bolu) are the most prominent.
The two skiing tracks of Turkey that are officially registered to the International Ski Federation are in the eastern city of Erzurum which will be hosting the Winter Universiade in 2011.
