Turkish Airlines (THY) the fastest growing

According to European Airlines Union’s data from the end of November, Turkish Airlines (THY) carried 1,314,000 passengers, an increase of of 24.7 percent over the previous 11 months.
THY became the fastest-growing airline among 30 European airlines with a 25.5 percent increase in the number of flights and a 24.6 percent increase in number of passengers carried. THY flights were 67.9 percent full on average.
Swiss International Airlines, a new subsidiary of Lufthansa, increased its passengers by 22.2 percent and became the second-fastest growing airline after THY. Romanian airlines Tarom was third with a 20.6 percent increase. The average growth of European airlines was 4.5 percent excluding the December data, with traffic and capacity increases at 5.3 percent and 5.1 percent, respectively. Lufthansa remained the biggest airline company by volume, with 4,143,000 passengers in 2006. Air France came in second with 3,860,000 passengers, followed by British Airways with 2,736,000 passengers, SAS-Scandinavian with 2,159,000 passengers, Iberia with 2,110,000 passengers, Alitalia with 1,748,000 passengers, KLM Royal Dutch with 1,748,000 passengers. THY was eighth in the list with its 1,314,000 passengers.
