Turkish tourism investors’ club SKAL will hold its national committee meeting in Antalya on Feb. 10 in preparation for an international conference at the Mediterranean resort at the end of the year. Club spokesperson and Crystal Hotels CEO Umman Çetinbaş said he expected the conference to boost the country’s tourism figures by 5 to 10 percent, the Anatolia news agency reported on Tuesday.

Noting the significant contribution to tourism made by the congresses to the countries in which they were held, Çetinbaş added that an  additional 350,000-700,000 could be expected in 2008 thanks to the work of the congress. The average number of visitors to Antalya is around 7 million.

The international club for top-level managers of travel agencies hotels and transportation companies will hold its 68th International Congress Nov. 4-9 at the Antalya Gloria Golf and Maritime Pine Beach hotels in Belek. The congress would be attended by nearly 2,000 tourism managers from a number of different countries.
