After receiving ‘the most punctual airline in Europe” and the “fastest growing airline in Europe” awards from the Association of European Airlines (AEA) in 2006, Turkish Airlines (THY) is now targeting the “best cabin staff” award for 2007.

General Manager of THY Temel Kotil said that with their new flight destinations, planes added to the fleet and modernized in-flight entertainment, THY is making a much more pronounced name for itself throughout Europe. During  his visit to Zaman daily with his Undersecretary of Press Ali Genç, Kotil informed about the recent improvements and developments in the company. “In spite of the 5 percent growth rate of European airline companies, we have had a growth rate of roughly 20 percent annually since 2003, and growth seems to continue in 2007, as well,” said Kotil. He also indicated his contentment about the level of competition in the sector by saying, “I don’t agree with the claims that we are overpowering or crushing our competitors. In my opinion, we can create synergy by working with one another through compromise.” said Kotil. Turkish Airlines is going to apply a special promotional fee on February 12,13 and 14 due to Valentine’s day. For the economy-class round trip flights departing from İstanbul and reaching any one of the destinations in Europe, the Turkic Republics, the Middle East and North Africa will be ?199 per person, excluding taxes. The companion of the passenger, however, will pay only 1 for the same trip. Business class flights on the same lines will be ?499 during this period.
