NDS and Doğan TV partner to revolutionize TV in Turkey
Doğan TV, a subsidiary of Doğan Yayın Holding, and NDS, a majority owned subsidiary of News Corporation, sign wide-ranging technology agreement to revolutionize television in Turkey
They will enable Turkish consumers to access free-to-air and premium content without a monthly subscription. Service to be underpinned by NDS VideoGuard® conditional access (CA), MediaHighwayTM middleware, and electronic program guide (EPG).
Agreement also includes the provision of interactive games and provides Doğan TV with a technology infrastructure capable of enabling further enhanced television offerings going forward NDS, the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, and Dogan TV, owned by Turkey’s leading media group Doğan Yayin Holding (“DYH”), yesterday announced an agreement to deploy a broad range of NDS technologies and applications. This will enable Dogan TV to launch an advanced digital interactive television service, namely D-SMART that will be available to an estimated total of more than 17 million households in Turkey.
The collaboration between NDS and Doğan TV will bring a new and exciting television service, broadcasting free-to-air and premium content to Turkish consumers on a convenient ‘pay as you go’ basis. NDS will provide Dogan TV with its world-leading VideoGuard® conditional access (CA), MediaHighwayTM middleware and electronic program guide (EPG), giving Doğan TV a secure and robust infrastructure on which it can grow its business. The agreement includes NDS’ Value@TV interactive infrastructure and applications, plus MediaHighway Development Kit, which will enable Doğan TV to offer many enhanced features to its television service, such as games and interactive advertising. All of these technologies from NDS will combine to provide Doğan TV with the flexibility to develop new enhanced applications to meet the group’s business requirements as the service grows.
