Turkey’s exports to China have been increasing, especially in the last three months, rising 68 percent per month on average.
Kürşad Tüzmen, Turkey’s state minister for foreign trade, told the Anatolia News Agency that they had initiated a new era for trade with China since last September following a major visit to Shanghai and Beijing, two of the country’s most important business centers. A large delegation of 160 Turkish  businessmen as well as state officials participated in the ground-breaking visit. “There we declared that we will pursue a win-win strategy. We told them we perceived the Chinese not as a threat but as an opportunity. Our endeavors since then have started to bear fruit,” said Tüzmen.
According to the minister, Turkey’s exports to the country rose by 52 percent in November 2006 over the same period in 2005, and 86 percent in December. The figures also showed that exports increased by 70 percent in January 2007 over January of last year.
