Turkey’s automotive sector, the biggest exporter in the country last year, is eyeing new records for 2007 with a target of $17 billion. In a statement to the Anatolia news agency, Erkut Özerman, chairman of the Association of Automotive Parts and Components Manufacturers (TAYSAD) noted that Turkey’s exports were growing steadily. With a $15 billion in exports last year, the automotive industry has been the driving force behind Turkey’s exports, Özerman said, adding that the target set for this year was reasonable and deliberate.
