New registration vehicles in 2006 reach 1.15 mln

Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has released the figures for new registration vehicles for December and the whole of the year 2006.
Total number of new registration vehicles rose in 2006 to 1,149,744 up from 988,620 in 2005.
The TÜİK English-language statement on the matter goes as follows:
Inside the 75 740 motor vehicles registered to the traffic in December 2006, cars were take put in the first place with the ratio 43.3 % (32 816) and it was fallowed by small trucks with the ratio 25.4 % (19 223), motorcycles with the ratio 17.2 % (13 039) and tractors with the ratio 5.1 % (3 886).Trucks, small buses, buses and special purpose vehicles constituted the 9.0 % (6 776) ratio of the registered motor vehicles in December 2006
In proportion to the previous month, the number of registered motor vehicles increased with a ratio 0.4 %. Cars, small trucks, buses, other vehicles (small buses, special purpose vehicles) increased with a ratio 17.8 %, 7.2 %, 14.6 % and 5.3 % respectively. Motorcycles, tractors and trucks decreased with a ratio 30.7 %, 9.0 %, 2.3 % .
According to the interim data in December 2006, the number of registered to the traffic motor vehicles decreased with a ratio of 24.8 % in comparison to the same month of the previous year. Cars, small trucks, trucks and tractors, motorcycles, other vehicles (small buses, buses, special purpose vehicles) decreased with a ratio 27.9 % , 21.7 % , 16.5 % , 15.9 %, 24.6 %, 27.4 % .
While 56 113 motor vehicles were withdrawn, 1 149 744 motor vehicles were registered in the period of January-December of 2006. Hence the total number of motor vehicles in traffic is increased by 1 081 567. Considering the end of December, the total number of motor vehicles in Turkey became 12 227 393. In the total number motor vehicles the ratio of cars, motorcycles, small trucks, tractors, trucks, small buses, buses and special purpose vehicles became 50.2 %, 14.9 %, 13.9 %, 10.6 %, 5.8 %, 2.9 %, 1.4 % and 0.3 % respectively.
The ratio of first registrations for the 2006 December in the provincies was 37.5 % for Istanbul, 9.2 % for Ankara, 6.8 % for İzmir, 3.9 % for Bursa, 3.8 % for Antalya, 2.7 % for Adana, 2.3 % for Manisa, 1.8 % for Hatay, 1.8 % for Mersin, 1.7 % for Muğla and 28.5 % for other provincies.
The distrubition of the trademarks of the motor vehicles registered for the first time in December 2006 is; Renault 18.1 %, Hyundai 8.8 %, Toyota 8.2 %, Ford 7.3 %, Opel 7.0 % , Tofaş-Fiat 6.5 % , Volkswagen % 6.2, Honda 5.9 %, Peugeot 5.0 % and the other trademarks 27.0 %.
