Over $1 bln expected at major Istanbul land sale, today

Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbaş said yesterday they were expecting over a billion USD from the sale of the land piece of the Istanbul Transportation Authority (IETT) in Levent district of Istanbul.
Speaking to the press on the sale, Topbaş said this land piece was very important for them as it was one of the few precious land pieces left in Istanbul.
“We are expecting over a billion USD from the sale. Whoever purchases it will win. We don’t own any other property of such quality,” said Kadir Topbaş.
Topbaş said, he was not going to be able to attend the tender which would be held tomorrow (today) because of his busy schedule but said he would watch it on TV.
The tender for the sale of the IETT garage with an 46,241 square meters of circumference is held today at 01:00 P.M and will be covered live on TV.
According to a statement issued from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality the number of companies that got tender specifications reached 19. The names of these companies are as follows:
“Eren Talu Mimarlik Turizm Insaat Corp., Biskon Yapi Corp., Limak Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Corp., Osmanli Yapi 4 Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Corp., Fiba Gayrimenkul Gelistirme Insaat ve Yatirim Corp, Zorlu Gayrimenkul Gelistirme ve Yatirim Corp., Sama Dubai Istanbul Gayrimenkul Corp., Pera Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi Corp., Soyak Yapi Insaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Corp, Emaar Gayrimenkul Gelistirme Corp, Yapi Merkezi Insaat ve Sanayi Corp, Garanti Gayrimenkul Yatirim Ortakligi Corp, Afken Gayrimekul Yatirim Ortakligi Corp, Toray Insaat Sanayi Ticaret Corp, Tasyapi Insaat Taahhut Sanayi ve Ticaret Corp, Anadolu Gemi ve Savunma Sanayi ve Ticaret Ltd., Tahincioglu Gayrimenkul Insaat ve Turizm Corp., Inanlar Insaat Corp, Fiba Gayrimenkul Gelistirme Insaat ve Yatirim Corp-Nurol joint consortium.”
The IETT land piece is not restricted with the Bosphorus legislation or the cultural and natural assets and sanitation laws.
The land piece is located at a key point on the main transportation routes to major trade and commerce centers and shopping malls in Istanbul.
According to State Bidding Law, the land piece will be sold with a closed bidding, and three companies offering the highest price will qualify to attend the final open bidding. At the final phase the company offering the highest bid will purchase the property.
