Chinese businessmen head to Turkey

Several groups of Chinese businessmen from construction and procurement companies are headed to Turkey to seek ways to enhance trade relations.
Representatives of leading Chinese contracting companies are scheduled to have official meetings in Ankara with the ministries of public works and settlement and transportation as well as discussions with the Turkish Contractors’ Association and the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade. A protocol of cooperation between the contractor associations of both countries is expected to be signed at the meetings. The group will leave for Turkey on March 30. Chief Counselor for Trade at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing Zülfikar Kılınç noted that the group included representatives of world-renowned companies which are focused more on cooperation rather than competition with Turkish companies. Meanwhile, another delegation of 50 Chinese businessmen from public procurement companies will arrive in Istanbul March 30. The Chinese businessmen who will meet with their Turkish counterparts at the Foreign Trade Complex of Istanbul aim to make large purchases in such fields as mining, metal, food, machines and chemicals. Kılıç underlined that the visit could be an opportunity to reduce the ever-growing trade deficit with China. Since the last visit to China by State Minister Kürşad Tüzmen, exports to to the country have grown by 70 percent.
