Investments in Antalya at five-year low

Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) Chairman Kemal Özgen announced on Tuesday that the volume of investments in Antalya’s tourism sector have dropped to their lowest level in five years, information derived from a drop in the request for “investment encouragement documents,” official documents that endow investors with investment benefits.
Özgen noted the amount of investments sought by these documents specific to tourism had decreased to YTL 30 million by the end of March 2007 from YTL 259 million for the same period in 2006. Despite this apparent fall in tourism investment, Antalya still heads the list in Turkey with respect to tourism investments, Özgen said, and added. “The investment delays that started recently have become more obvious now.”
