Fiat’s latest model, Linea — produced at Tofaş’s Bursa factory — will be unveiled before a world audience at the end of April, with preparations for the “big day” under way at top speed. Tofaş constructed a glazed tent on Suada, a small islet in the Bosporus near Kuruçeşme, for the premiere, set to be attended by around 1,500 foreign guests. The transparent tent covers 1,440 square meters and will form a dining hall during the events, which will last four days. Tofaş officials say the tent is the largest construction of its kind in Turkey. Two artificial ponds have been installed, both inside and outside the tent, and a 1,000-square-meter real grass lawn has been laid around both pools. Fiat Brand Director Okan Baş said more than 1,000 people worked in the construction of the tent and evaluated the preparations as “world-class.” Baş noted that among the foreign guests will be 500 member of the foreign press, adding that such a large number would not gather for any other event except major sports competitions.
