Turkish Privatization Administration (OIB) scrutinizes bridge-motorway privatizations of the United States, Canada, Italy and France to create a model regarding the privatization of Turkey’s bridges and motorways, it was reported on Friday.

A consultant company has to be chosen to carry out a study regarding the matter. Sources indicated that the name of the company will be known by the end of next week.

The consultant company will carry out feasibility, profit-earning ratio, and cost-benefit analysises for each motorway. It will later introduce its privatization strategy making clear whether motorways will be privatized one by one or altogether.

OIB earlier decided to privatize 6 motorways and 2 bridges by transferring their operating rights. Among the models under inquiry Italy comes out to be the most successful.

Technical studies are expected to be concluded before the end of 2007.
