Exporters will no longer be required to submit hard copies of their guarantee licenses to the Customs Administration. A protocol on submitting documents online was signed between the Customs Undersecretariat, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). To this end, licenses will be approved online by the Commerce and Industry Ministry and will be sent to the Customs Administration via the Internet. Speaking at the signing ceremony on Tuesday, State Minister for Foreign Trade Kürşad Tüzmen said the project was a milestone in foreign trade transactions. He said 100 percent of import and export transactions could be made online and that customs procedures could be completed on time via computer. “As of today, the automation system has been launched in 117 Customs offices,” he said. Minister of Commerce and Industry Ali Coşkun said everyone must understand that economies cannot succeed with restrictions.
