Energy regulators to meet in Istanbul

The Sixth Investment and Regulations Conference of the Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA) is going to be held in Istanbul on May 21 and 22. The meeting will be opened by Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül and is to be attended by many investors in addition to the representatives of the member countries. Şekerbank had Turkey’s fastest Q1 growth rate

The rapid growth rate seen in the banking sector continues through the first three months of the year. While Şekerbank has been declared to be the fastest growing bank for the period, Finansbank’s deposits dropped from the beginning of the year

‘Targets exceeded, summit will yield $2 billion in deals’

African and Turkish businessmen started business negotiations on the second day of the second “Turkey-Africa Trade Bridge” summit in İstanbul. The bilateral talks were kicked off by Foreign Trade Minister Kürşad Tüzmen together with the guest African ministers.The summit, organized by the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON), is offering the opportunity to bargain and strike business deals to around 1,000 African and 1,600 Turkish businessmen. THY discusses its Star Alliance accession

The number of foreign passengers choosing Turkish Airlines increased due to the announcement related to the company’s participation in the international airways union Star AllianceTurkish Airlines taking off

The accession process of Turkish Airlines (THY) into the international Star Alliance has helped to increase its number of foreign passengers. THY will join Star Alliance in 2008.

During the accession process THY’s first step was to collaborate with Lufthansa in Munich and Frankfurt based flights.

EU states to cut roaming fees

European Union countries and lawmakers have reached a preliminary deal on cutting the cost of using a mobile phone abroad, a top European Commission official said on Tuesday.Fabio Colasanti, head of the EU executive’s telecoms unit, confirmed the deal. Internet banking users exceed 17 million

Personal Internet banking service users exceeded 17 million in the first three months of 2007, according to Banks Association of Turkey (TBB) data.The TBB announced the Internet banking first-quarter statistics for the 26 banks among its 46 members that provide Internet banking services. Of the 17 million personal subscribers, 3 million users made at least one transaction through the Internet, accounting for 18 percent of all users. The number of active users increased by 710,000 compared to the same period in 2006, and rose by 83,000 compared to the previous quarter. Doğan Holding buys 10% of Marbleton

Doğan Holding has become 10 a percent shareholder in Moscow-based real estate firm Marbleton Property Fund LP.Doğan sent a release to the İstanbul Stock Exchange (İMKB) and said the group and Marbleton Property will carry out a joint initiative with $300 million in initial capital. Aegean exporters seek new partners

The Port Services and Transportation Corp. (LİMAŞ), a subsidiary of the Aegean Exporters Association (EİB) that won the tender for the privatization of the İzmir Port, is looking for new partners from its members for the operation of the port.
