Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said Sunday that Turkey’s exports to Germany, Britain and Russia increased the most in 2007. “Exports to 23 countries exceeded 1 billion USD, each, in 2007,” said Tuzmen. “During the first 11 months of 2007, our exports to Germany, Britain and Russia increased the most in value. Our exports to Germany increased 2.16 billion USD, to Britain 1.57 billion USD and to Russia 1.3 billion USD compared to the same period of last year.” Tuzmen also said Turkey’s exports to Germany reached 11 billion USD, to Britain 7.7 billion USD, to Italy 6.8 billion USD, to France 5.4 billion USD, to Russia 4.4 billion USD and to Spain 4.3 billion USD during the first 11 months of 2007. He said Turkey’s exports to USA and Romania were over 3 billion USD, while exports to the Netherlands, Iraq, United Arab Emirates and Greece exceeded 2 billion USD. Exports to Bulgaria, Belgium, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Ukraine, Iran, Algeria, Kazakhstan, China and Azerbaijan exceeds 1 billion USD each, Tuzmen added. In a related news Oguz Satici, the Chairman of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), said that their commitment for the year 2007 was $100 bln exports, “however, 2007 will end with an exports figure around 107 bln USD,” he added. Satici said 2007 was a “lost year” for economy because of the Presidential election and general elections, stating that production and exports were kept in the shadow of politics.
