Turkey’s output of automotive industry was up 11.3 percent and Turkey produced 1,099,414 vehicles in 2007, Automotive Industry Association (OSD) data showed.

Turkey also manufactured 634,883 cars last year, a 16.3 percent increase over 2006. Bus and minivan production was also up, whereas lorry and tractor production was down in 2007.

On the other hand, Turkey’s automotive sales was down 4.2 percent in 2007 compared to 2006. Turkey sold 641,315 vehicles last year.

Turkey earned $19.2 bln from its automotive exports — which indicated 34 percent rise when compared with exports in 2006. Turkey exported 820,360 vehicles in 2007 and 504,353 of them were automobiles.
