SunExpress Airlines, established in 1989 as a partnership between Turkish Airlines and the German Lufthansa Company, will add Istanbul to its domestic and international flight hubs after Antalya and İzmir. SunExpress is set to launch scheduled flights this summer from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The flights will involve two aircraft. There will be flights to Adana, Antalya, Diyarbakır, Erzurum, Kars, Trabzon and Van on domestic routes and to the German cities of Nurnberg, Cologne and Hannover on international routes.

SunExpress General Manager Paul Schwaiger commenting on the flights to be launched said: “Istanbul flights will a highly strategic step for our company. By adding Istanbul to our destinations, we aim to soon become a leading private airline company in regional flights.” Stating that they were offering Istanbul passengers an experience of 18 years, Schwaiger said: “We will offer the most intensive domestic flight schedule to Anatolian cities with our Istanbul flights. Our people in Anatolian cities will now find the opportunity, after the Aegean and Mediterranean region, to reach Istanbul and its environs with direct flights by enjoying the benefits of SunExpress.”
