Turkey is among the most popular tourism centers of Europe and the world, according to figures of World Tourism Organization (WTO).

WTO stated that European region attracts the most tourists in the world.

Greece, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland are also attractive for tourists.

The number of tourists who visited tourism centers –including Turkey– increased 4 percent in 2007 when compared with 2006. These tourism centers hosted nearly 500 million tourists last year.

WTO stated that tourism income of Turkey will increase in 2008, adding that last year’s income (of Turkey) was 18.5 billion USD. Turkey earned 16.8 billion USD from tourism in 2006.

The number of tourists who visited Turkey in 2006 was 23.1 million. This rate increased 17.6 percent to 27.2 million in 2007.
