Turkish tourism professionals have completed their preparations for the world’s largest tourism exhibition, the International Tourism Bourse (ITB), which is set to open on March 5.
This year’s fair will feature 10,923 tourism firms from more than 180 countries. The exhibition will be held on 160,000 square meters of floor space at Messedamm in Berlin. What began with five participating countries in the context of an overseas-import trade show in 1966 has become the “world’s leading travel trade show.” With more than 180,000 visitors, the ITB draws the attention of professionals from all sectors related to the tourism industry worldwide. A diverse array of businesses, including tour operators, booking companies, destinations, airlines, hotels and car rental companies, will have booths at the ITB.
With the slogan “A perfect holiday starts here,” this year the fair offers an excellent opportunity to meet business partners and do business. The fair also welcomes visitors and tourism professionals in the last two days of the exhibition. The fee for visitors will be 14 euros for adult visitors and 8 euros for students. This year around 8,000 journalists from 100 countries will visit the fair and the fair administration has provided a 5,000-square-meter area for press members to follow the event.
As in previous years, Turkey will focus on the promotion of tourist sites on regional basis in its 2,558-square-meter stand. The Culture and Tourism Ministry has urged tourism operators, travel agencies, aviation firms and tourism associations, like the Turkish Association of Travel Agents (TÜRSAB), the Turkish Federation of Hotel Enterprises (TÜROFED) and the Turkish Association for Tourism Investors (TYD), to take part in the fair.
