The Antalya Free Zone, fast becoming a popular spot for high-end yacht producers, is to welcome yet another yacht firm, Italy’s Fipa Group, which is to produce its Maiora motor yachts in Antalya in cooperation with Tacar Yachting.

Tacar Yachting Chairman Tuğrul Acar said during the Antalya Boat Show (April 3-6) that his company would begin production in Antalya next year for their line of fiberglass, high-speed Maiora yachts, which range from 20 to 43 meters in length. Tacar said the total investment for yacht production in Antalya would be 18 million euros and the yachts would be marketed in Europe, Russia, the Turkic republics and the Middle East. He said the price of mega yachts (high-quality, large yachts, generally 30 meters or more in length) was often as high as 13.5 million euros in Europe.

The chairman said Fipa Groups’ Italian yacht production was carried out on a large area equal in size to the entire Antalya Free Zone. “Only 40 yachts are produced annually,” he said, adding that in Antalya they would make three yachts in the first production phase.

Fipa Group employs 1,200 workers at its shipyard in Italy. It will hire an initial 250 workers for its Antalya production.
