Soyak housing checks for British eco standards

Soyak, one of the leading firms in the real estate sector, has checked if the Soyak Mavişehir project, designated a “Sustainable Building,” meets British standards for that term.
The firm exhibits its environmental approach as a prerequisite for its leadership while it continues with successful construction projects.
The firm recently undertook the consultancy for suitability of its construction projects to the standards of the Building Research Establishment (BRE) of England because standards similar to those of the BRE, designed to achieve a sustainable life depending on the location and climate of the country, do not yet exist in Turkey. These standards are used in England to help determine the desired features in the planning, construction and renovation of buildings and to assess the performance of the buildings accordingly.
Undertaking the work to achieve a sustainable life in its projects, in coordination with the U.K.-based Principal Purpose firm, Soyak received information about necessary standards for its Soyak Mavişehir project in İzmir, in western Turkey, by undergoing an assessment with the English consultancy firm.
Aiming to eliminate the factors that could be harmful to nature in its Soyak Mavişehir project, Soyak uses environment-friendly projects in every detail. For instance, the project includes air conditioners that utilize environmentally friendly gases, which do not harm the ozone layer and do not include chlorine. Energy-saving lighting systems are used in the project’s common courtyards and gardens. Heat loss is minimized through modern insulation systems and double-glazed windows that filter ultraviolet rays. In the Soyak Mavişehir project, batteries with sensors that save up to 50 percent water are used to ensure hygiene in common social facilities under the “Save one drop of water for the future” project. Moreover, the water in the project’s ornamental pools is reused through circulation pumps.
Being conscious of the importance of human health, Soyak uses materials in the exteriors of the project that protect against ultraviolet rays. The buildings are also constructed to breathe via the steam permeability of paints and coverings. The interiors and exteriors of the buildings are painted with water-resistant paints, which do not include solvents. The Soyak Mavişehir project, where such natural materials as concrete, brick, marble, ceramics and wood are commonly used, is also careful to make use of local materials and labor.
The customers are informed about the materials, appliances and security via manuals. Moreover, owners, who are protected by a 24 hour-security service, also have access to after-sales service whenever they require it. With parking lots for guest cars, the Soyak project has implemented a speed limit on roads within the project.
The Soyak Mavişehir project offers the advantages of location, with its proximity to the various business, shopping and medical centers that can be reached through various means of transportation.
