Turkey’s energy minister said Wednesday that Turkey and Hungary were determined to complete in the shortest time possible a pipeline project that would carry natural gas to Europe.

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler held talks with Hungarian officials in Budapest about the Nabucco pipeline project, including Hungarian economy and foreign ministers, as a part of the 8th Turkish-Hungarian Energy Working Group meeting.

“We have held very fruitful talks on our commitment on the Nabucco and finish the project as soon as possible,” Guler said. He explained that works on Nabucco pipeline project would accelerate from now on.

“We have clarified what has to be done on the Nabucco project. We also signed a memorandum of understanding to implement joint projects between Turkey and Hungary on energy,” Guler said.

Nabucco would carry Iranian, Azeri, Kazakh, Turkmen, Egyptian and Syrian natural gas from Turkey to Austria via Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary.
