Shoemaker Pames eyes world markets

The Pames Group, which produces 2 million pairs of shoes each year at Europe’s largest shoemaking facility, plans to launch stores abroad to sell its 17 brands, including Arow, Arow Kids, M.P, M.P One, M.P Style, L.A.O. Gear, Hatuny, Masculin, Diwo and Flycat.
Pames Group Chairman Kazım Sağın said the group was established in 1987 with a 125-square-meter workshop. It now produces shoes at a 44,000-square-meter facility and has an annual turnover of $110 million. Sağın said Pames Group brands have been sold at 2,500 points in Turkey and are exported to Germany, Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and China. He said production capacity would increase depending on research and development studies. The group’s chairman said their current goal was to establish the world’s largest shoemaking facility and sell their product all over the world through their own stores. “We have begun to implement this plan by opening stores in Germany and Holland,” he said, adding that they want to remain in these markets — especially with their M.P brands — and negotiate with the best local partners in each market.
Sağın said the domestic market in Turkey was also growing rapidly thanks to its young population. He said the group had started to diversify its product range in order to meet customer needs. He said they had signed agreements with global giants and will produce Batman, Powerpuff Girls of Warner Bros. fame and popular Brazilian brand Klin for the children’s footwear market.
