Online banking customers in Turkey top 9 million

The number of retail customers who utilize online banking services reached 9,396,167 as of the end of March, according to the Turkish Banks Association (TBB).
The TBB collected statistics from the 26 banks that provide online services among a total of 46 banks registered with the association. The data revealed that 5,224,044 customers who are enrolled in online banking services logged on at least once in the last year. During the three-month period of January-March, 4,082,990 retail customers made at least one banking transaction online, equal to 43 percent of all registered online banking customers. During the first quarter of this year, the number of retail online banking customers saw an increase of 1,023,417 over to the same period last year, and compared to the previous quarter the figure grew by 287,363. The number of corporate customers registered for Internet banking that logged on at least once within the April 2007-March 2008 period was 1,166,429, and 43 percent of these customers made at least one online transaction during the January-March period. Furthermore, the number of corporate customers to log on to online banking services at least once in the April 2007-March 2008 period was 610,445.
