TAV Havalimanları Holding, the operator of Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport, said it plans to bid to operate Latvia’s Riga airport. The Istanbul-based company created a unit with Latvian construction firm SIA Skonto Buve and applied to take part in the tender, according to a filing with the bourse yesterday.

Meanwhile, national carrier Turkish Airlines, or THY, denied a report in Sabah newspaper that it bid for Austrian Airlines Group.

THY said it did not bid for the 43 percent of Austrian Airlines that Austria’s government may sell, according to a filing with the Istanbul Stock Exchange yesterday. The airline said it will assess a possible bid if it’s invited to do so.Sabah claimed yesterday that Turkish Airlines was one of four bidders shortlisted for Austrian Airlines, along with Deutsche Lufthansa, Aeroflot and Air France-KLM Group.
