U.S. oil company Chevron has expressed an interest in exploring oil reserves in the Black Sea with the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), an official from the Corporation said on Sunday.

TPAO has received offers from many companies for exploring oil in the Black Sea, TPAO’s Deputy Director General Yurdal Oztas told Anatolian Agency.

“The meetings with Chevron were positive and we expect to reach an agreement by the upcoming summer,” Oztas said.

TPAO officials met with their counterparts from Chevron in January. Earlier, the TPAO signed a cooperation agreement with the U.S. Exxon Mobil company.

TPAO also conducts talks with various Japanese, Indian, Russian and Italian companies in order to establish a consortium that will participate in oil and natural gas tenders in Iraq, he also said.
