Turkcell, Turkey’s leading GSM operator, has received the Global Mobile Award for “Best Mobile Advertising Service.”

The GSM Association (GSMA) announced the winners of the Global Mobile Awards at a ceremony hosted Tuesday night in Barcelona as part of the Mobile World Congress, which started on Feb. 16 and ends today.

Turkcell’s mobile ad campaign “Tonla Kazan,” the world’s first ring-back tone mobile advertising platform, competed with Microsoft, Vodafone Spain, Telstra and CellCity in the “Best Mobile Advertising Service” category. Turkcell CEO Sureyya Ciliv said they were honored to receive the award. “We have led the way with our ‘Tonla Kazan’ application in the world and contributed a new concept to advertising,” Ciliv said.
