European fund buys into Turkish firm

Bedminster Capital Management, a private equity firm focused on investment in southeastern Europe, has entered Turkey’s olive oil market by acquiring a 39 percent stake in Ana Gıda, a subsidiary of the Anadolu Group.

Ana Gıda signed a deal with Seef Foods, owned by the Southeast Europe Equity Fund II (B), which is managed by Bedminster Capital Management. After the capital increase, Seef Foods will own 39 percent of the shares.

“Seef Foods is an investment fund. They had a desire to invest in food here. They came and found us,” said Tuncay Özilhan, chairman of Anadolu Group. (more…)

Olive a golden opportunity for GAP region

A former leader of the International Olive Oil Council (IOOC) has stated that the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region has great potential for olive production and that Turkey should use this potential wisely for the development of this region.

Shimon Lavee, a former president of the IOOC, an intergovernmental organization in charge of safeguarding olive and olive oil quality and ensuring that olive oil products are marketed properly, visited the International Wine, Olive, Olive Oil and Technology Fair in İzmir on Thursday. He told the Anatolia news agency that Turkey’s GAP region presents a golden opportunity for development through olive production. (more…)
